Title:

Human Food Processor - Your Digestive System!

Sentence: Is your food processor working up to par?

Paragraph: It has already been proven, stated and restated that most of our major illnesses, such as cancer, heart problems, even arthritis, are caused by the foods we eat. Let's take that one step farther; because of the foods we eat, which are filled with antibiotics, hormones and chemicals, our digestive system is forced to

process foreign material. This material has nothing in common with nutrition, in fact, it is toxic to our bodies. When the digestive system is overloaded it does not perform properly, causing poor breakdown of the foods to vitamins, minerals, etc., poor absorption, and further down the line - poor elimination. Join our workshop and learn first hand, how the digestive system works, what it does and why, and how it affects the rest of the body.

Conversations & Stories in Sound

Wether you think you can or can't play music this workshop will allow you to explore the deeper structure of your experience with yourself and others in the world.

In this workshop we will create small 'sound pieces'. Taking as a starting point the exploration of what you would like to have happen, or explore, we will work in small and large groups. The structure we will use is the SCORE: S the present situation, O the outcome, E the effects of that outcome, and C the cause. Slowly moving from one step to another we will discover the rescources that are there. This is based on an NLP process and will be facilitated using 'Clean Langauge questions' developed by David Grove and the rescources of wonderful percussion instruments. Deep and profound learnings come from this work and 'tough' world issues explored by the larger group are quite magical and healing. Fun, enjoyment and wise learning will be the results of this workshop.

NEW HOPE in the TREATMENT of DEPRESSION

Depression is one of the most common afflictions in this country as well as the world. Yet, it is well known that antidepressants only help a percentage of people who suffer from this often debilitating condition.

The recent popularity of St. John’s Wort as a natural alternative to treat depression suggests that people are ready to embrace other solutions that work.

In addition, antidepressants often have side effects that may be intolerable and preclude ongoing use. Side effects make antidepressant therapy most tenable as a short term, rather than long term treatment, although there are notable exceptions.

Also, medications like antidepressants are broken down by the liver, warranting attention to periodic liver detoxification strategies from time to time. Effects of medications on the liver really came to light after the Tylenol scare, when it became widespread knowledge that Tylenol was potentially toxic to the liver.

Any thorough evaluation of depression must include attention to nutritional status and health related concurrent symptoms. Indeed, many patients who seek help for depression have significant metabolic abnormalities detected in blood tests or trace mineral analysis.

Probably the most common, but least recognized cause of depression and mood disorders is exposure to toxins, from the air, food and environment. It is well recognized that our air, water and food has become progressively more toxic. Consequently, individuals with varying susceptibility to these toxins may experience symptoms of fatigue and depression and mental cloudiness.

Presentation abstract:

Preferred Music as an indicator of the prevailing mood states, thought patterns and imagery in adolescent music students:

Abstract:

The purpose of this pilot study was to examine the interactive relationship between prevailing mood, mental imagery, and thought patterns and the favorite music of teenage music students. Through automatic drawing and a question/answer dialogue designed for the study, we examined the healthy or unhealthy tendencies in mood and thought as depicted by artwork and verbal reports taken while listening their favorite "most-listened-to" songs. All these students had above average exposure to classical music and had achieved low intermediate to advanced proficiency (PMTA standards) in piano skills. There was an average of 4 years training in classical music as my private students. The three favorite musical genres of these students were Soft rock, Rap, and Heavy Metal. The pilot study was intended to demonstrate an inter-active (as opposed to a cause- effect) relationship between preferred music, mood, mental imagery and thought patterns. From this platform, I would make further studies on the relationship between musical preferences, and the musical elements of this preferred music and the prevailing moods and thoughts of normal adolescents.

Founder and Executive Director of Friends' Health Connection

WORKSHOP/LECTURE - 60 Minutes

title: Letter writing as a healing method

sentence: This lecture will discuss how communication and mutual support through writing can aid in the healing process

I am the founder and executive director of Friends' Health Connection, a
non-profit organization that connects individuals who have the same health
problems on a customized, one-to-one basis for mutual support. Once connected, people communicate via phone, e-mail, letter writing and sometimes mail art.
I started the organization 13 years ago from my dorm room during my freshman year of college. I had been diagnosed with lupus and since then I've also had a kidney transplant. My oldest sister was the donor.

My organization has received more than two dozen honors from prominent individuals and organizations including President Bush, Senator Bradley, Governor Whitman and the Center for Home Health Development for improving the lives of home health care patients. Due to its impact on patients' lives, it has been publicized in an abundance of media including CNN, NBC, Time magazine, USA Today, the New York Times, Oprah, etc.

I am interested in presenting about the therapeutic value of mutual support gained through communication and especially letter writing.

C. Tony Brooks. VIRTUAL INTERACTIVE SPACE (V.I.S.) an experiential intensive

Tony will be presenting the VIS briefly on Saturday and then in more depth on Sunday morning as a "Post-Conference Intensive"
The presentation will be aimed towards demonstrating the creative use of my technology within the attendees chosen discipline through movement in the V.I.S. and the role of the therapist, helper and teacher as an interactive partner in the creative process towards offering an improvement in life quality through this means.

Soundscapes applies technology as an exciting futuristic expressive channel for new forms of communication with handicapped and others having the opportunity for an improvement of life quality. Workshops are held which invite participants to move within "Virtual Interactive Spaces" (or V.I.S.) which Tony terms his operating area. The feedback which is relative to the movement can be mapped to sounds, images or other multimedia.
